Description

Made from plaster, known as "natural finish", in December 1923, size 30 x 21 cm, one small chip on the bottom. According to local tradition, the mask was made by Berchtesgaden stuccoist and sculptor Konrad Schuster. After Dietrich Eckert's death, his estate passed to Anni Obster, who had been presented as his cousin during Eckart's lifetime and later became known under the name "Rosner". The death mask comes with a comprehensive, 11-page written expert report on its provenance. Among other material, this report includes photographs from the 1990s showing Anni Rosner holding this very death mask in her hands, as well as a detailed reconstruction of the chain of ownership and the historical context of the object.
