Description

Manufactured with the very highest bookbinding quality, handmade with a parchment binding and a gold border, the pages edged with gilt on all sides. The hand-painted book cover features the city's coat of arms and the title „Goldenes Buch der Stadt Klotzsche”, four decorative silver studs with green stones in the corners and two silver clasps on the side. The first page is a reproduction of a letter from Martin Mutschmann, Reichsstatthalter in Saxony, to the Mayor of Klotzsche, dated 18 November 1935, awarding Klotzsche the title of „City. The second page is another reproduction letter addressed to the Mayor from Adolf Hitler, thanking the municipality for the report on its elevation to city and garrison, dated 20 November 1935. The third page featuring a portrait photograph of Martin Mutschmann as Gauleiter, with Mutschmann's handwritten autograph below the photo. On the fourth page, a portrait photograph of the Mayor of Klotzsche in his black SS uniform as SS Brigadeführer, including a handwritten dedication from him. On the following 12 pages, other entries in the Golden Book (tr.): „Flag award and swearing-in ceremony at the Luftkriegsschule” dated 12 December 1936, „SS Reich leadership visit the Rudolf-Schröter-Schule” dated 10 and 11 February 1937, with the original signature of SS Obergruppenführer August Heissmeyer. From 25 July 1940, numerous entries penned by soldiers on home leave and citizens: Gerhard Tittner, Mtr. Ob. Gefr. 5th Destroyer Division, destroyer „Hermann Künne”. Participated in the occupation of Norway. Fought at Narvik. Iron Cross II, awarded 25 July 1940. A lengthy entry by Generalmajor Oskar Kriegbaum, commander of Luftkriegsschule 1 Dresden, dated 30 April 1942. Major Hans Müller, bearer of the Knight's Cross and commander of II/I.R. 111 dated 6 October 1942. Oberleutnant Christian Otto, adjutant in the Panzer Reconnaissance Unit „Großdeutschland”. Deployed in the East since 1941, German Cross in Gold, Iron Cross I, Close Combat Clasp dated 24 June 1944. The last two entries in 1945 were also written by bearers of the Knight's Cross: Fhj. Feld. Rolf Man... Platoon leader in a Vogtland Grenadiers Regiment in enemy country. Deployed in the East since 1942. Bearer of the Knight's Cross, dated 17 January 1945. Wachtmeister Heinz Uhlmann in a Flak Rgt. in the South. Deployed in the East and South since 1940, bearer of the Knight's Cross dated 13 March 1945. Dimensions 36.5 x 27 x 5 cm, weight 2.9 kg. Good condition. Today, Klotzsche is a district of Dresden, located about seven kilometres north of the city centre, on the edge of the Dresdner Heide.
