Description

Of heavy construction with twelve-faceted sides, many panels with black lacquered linear ornaments on a matte faceted background. The stopper embellished en suite. Total height 23.3 cm. In total, five (of the original seven) labels still glued in place, handwritten by Lieselotte Otto, reading "Parfümflacon von Eva Braun" (2x), "Nachlaß von Eva Braun", "Eidesstattliche Erklärung Lieselotte Otto" and "6. Januar 1991".

Provenance: From the estate of Lieselotte Otto, who was housekeeper to Kurt and Gretl Berlinghoff (née Braun, widowed Fegelein) in their Munich apartment in Agnes-Bernauer Strasse/corner of Behamstrasse between 1963 and 1965. When the Berlinghoffs moved to Steingaden in 1965, Lieselotte Otto was given this perfume bottle by Gretl Berlinghoff as a token of her appreciation. Also includes a handwritten postcard from Gretl Berlinghoff to Lieselotte Otto from Majorca, dated 7 June 1973, "Liebe Ottoline samt Familie! [..] Ihre Gretl Bff."Moreover, two photographs, one of Hitler at the Berghof with small children, one with Eva Braun, labelled "am Mooslanderkopf Anfang Dez. 1938" on the back, and several newspaper cuttings from the post-war period, e.g. (tr.) "Hitler's father-in-law [..] classified as a 'lesser offender' after denazification purge." The affidavit (Eidesstattliche Erklärung) dated 1991 indicated by Lieselotte Otto could not be found in her estate.
