Description

Privately purchased item. Fine, dark blue cloth in beautiful condition (a few minor holes) trimmed with light-coloured fur (rubbed in places), the frogging in silver gilt, chained cording (tarnished, abraded). Gilt toggles and raised gilt rosettes, the shoulder boards in silver braid, interwoven in black and sewn in place, each with two appliquéd gold rank stars for a Rittmeister, smooth shoulder buttons. Complete with Russia braid on the back of the collar. Lined in smooth, cream-coloured silk (torn, repairs) with an inside breast pocket. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Extremely rare, high-ranking uniform. See Herr/Nguyen, Die deutsche Kavallerie, p. 454.
