Description

Privately purchased item in ponceau red cloth, trimmed in gold patterned braid with lacings of gold chained cording, gold pins, rosettes and shoulder buttons. Shoulder boards for a Prussian Rittmeister sewn in place (the silver tarnished). Lined in white silk (somewhat darkened, stained in places), an inside breast pocket containing the label of court purveyor "A. Berger jun. Potsdam" with the wearer's name "Frhr. v. Werthen (?)". Superficial moth damage here and there, signs of age and wear. This same attila is illustrated in Herr/Nguyen "Die deutsche Kavallerie" on p. 436.
