A helmet for a Prussian general, with parade plume, from 1897 onwards

Description

Black lacquered leather skull with an angular front visor and gilt fittings. A guard eagle (double perforation) screw-mounted at the front, with enamelled silver guard star in officer's issue. Convex brass chinscales with leather underlay on geometric rosettes, both officer's cockades in lacquered sheet iron. Screw-mounted, fluted funnel with knurled cover plate and black and white cock plume (somewhat darkened, several feathers enclosed separately). Cruciform base plate with four star-shaped screws (double perforation). A bar at the nape. Ochre-coloured leather sweatband ("Mars Patent") lined in matte, salmon-coloured ribbed silk (stained, small holes here and there, collection stamp), the front visor lined in green and the rear visor in red. The damaged paper label of the royal court purveyor „M. Neumann, Berlin” with the size „56 1/2” and year „13” in the front of the skull. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age and wear. Extremely rare find.
