Description

Dark blue cloth with a high crimson collar, cuffs and piping. The silver tunic border interwoven in crimson with smooth silver buttons and numerous orders loops. A pair of epaulettes for an Oberst with white sections, gold appliquéd „L" below a crown, two rank stars on each side (one missing), loose silver fringes and crimson cloth lining, yellow shoulder buttons. Unlined, probably because it was a summer tunic. A black silk label with the wearer's red-embroidered cipher „W" below a crown at the collar, a Kassel collection stamp on the inside of the button placket. Also includes a sword belt and a hanger strap with silver braid on a crimson background (some moth damage). Slightly damaged in places, signs of age and wear. Illustrated in Herr/Nguyen, „Die deutsche Kavallerie", p. 252.
