Description

Black lacquered leather skull (craquelure, heat damage) with non-ferrous metal fittings in fine relief (remnants of gilding). The embossed Mexican eagle screw-mounted on the front. Base plate with four star-shaped screws and removable smooth spike. Flat chinscales with leather underlay on rosettes and two identical officer's cockades in lacquered sheet metal. The visors with red and green underlay (small tear on the edge of the neck guard), ochre-coloured leather sweatband (5 mm hole), ochre-coloured silk rep lining (minor tears). Slightly damaged in places, minor old repairs, signs of age. Extremely rare officer's helmet in good condition, modelled on Prussian helmets, probably of German manufacture.
