Description

Oil on wood, the back covered in velvet, with label „I.E. Chakalowskij Odessa". Exceptionally finely painted representation of the Valdimirskaya Mother of God. Chased, finely engraved, gilt silver oklad, partly embellished with rays in a guilloche pattern. Three appliqués and the nimbuses decorated with polychrome champlevé-enamel. The border, the maphorion and the halos stamped with hallmark, ”84" standard, unidentified assayer's mark for A. Romanov ”AR 1889" and master's mark ”DA" in Cyrillic. Oklad unopened. Dimensions of the icon 22 x 17.8 cm, Kiot: 29 x 24.5 cm.
