Oil on wood panel; signed lower left “H. Schlitt” and dated “Munich 80”. Small-format, richly detailed genre scene featuring two dwarf-like figures on mushrooms amidst dense forest vegetation; an illustrative, narrative-humorous depiction with fine brushwork and nuanced rendering of the vegetation, as well as pointed figurative arrangement, characteristic of Schlitt’s fairy-tale and dwarf paintings. Profiled, gilded wooden frame, with labels on the reverse. Frame with missing gilding, impact marks, and partial damage. Surface of the painting with noticeably yellowed varnish and isolated superficial soiling; a linear scratch in the paint layer visible in the center of the image; isolated small missing areas and abrasion in the paint layer. Image dimensions 17.9 × 24.8 cm, frame dimensions 26 × 33.5 × 3 cm.
