Description

Original blued, octagonal barrel, turning to 16-faceted, the bore with oval rifling in 15.5 mm calibre. Dovetailed sights, lavish silver-inlaid floral embellishment at the muzzle and root of the barrel, with the signature "J.G. Biesse à Helmstedt". Gold-lined vent hole. Original blued flintlock with ornamental silver inlays and repeated, silver-inlaid signature. The Capuchin full stock slightly carved in beautifully grained walnut with a dark horn nose. The patch box with a spring catch on the butt. The stock covered in exquisitely wrought silver wire inlays. Blued iron furniture with fine decorative tendrils, inlaid in silver. A small imperfection in the stock wood at the butt cap. Inset wooden ramrod with horn tip. Length 117.5 cm. Superbly wrought hunting rifle with an early barrel for Brunswick oval bullets.
