Description

Eight-groove rifled, octagonal barrel in 13 mm calibre with slightly swamped muzzle, signed "Wilhelm Neupauer" at above the chamber. Dovetailed, folding rear sight and silver-inlaid front sight, both lightly engraved. The flat lock with internal wheel, the lock plate engraved with a city view of Prague and a wreath of fruit and flowers around the quadrangular cocking device. Chiselled pan cover, the cock with external spring, partially wrought in openwork and engraved with grotesque figures and a sea monster. The wooden stock entirely covered in engraved and blackened ivory, the forearm, the top of the butt and lid of the patch box ostentatiously embellished with scenes from the Thirty Years' War, trophies on the underside of the butt. Fingered iron trigger guard, set trigger. The replaced ramrod with bone tip. Barrel length 74.7 cm, overall length 101 cm. Wilhelm Neubauer was appointed master gun maker on 10 January 1691 and is documented as an imperial attendant and craftsman exempted by the court for Prague and Vienna until his death in 1702. CITES certificate available, dated 2026.
