Description

The skull forged in one piece, with a narrow, roped comb. Two-part, pivoted visor. The iron plume socket riveted at the nape, two perforations with ornate pewter rosettes on the right. The upper visor with sight slit forged in one piece, the original unlocking eyelet on the side. The visor plate with perforated breathing holes on the left. A flap with a spring-loaded clasp on the right. A square aperture near the fullers to insert the reinforcement plate for the jousting lance fight. The bevor with two spring-loaded locking knobs, the original folding visor support on the side. The face opening with a finely turned and roped edge. Sturdy, roped collar. The original lining of quilted linen on the inside of the skull. The left side of the helmet with visible impact marks from active participation in tournaments. Height 27.5 cm. Similar tournament helmets that were made in Augsburg can be found in the collections of Ambras Castle in Tyrol and the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
