Description

Older Ottoman blade in wootz-Damascus dating from the late 17th century. Double-edged, slightly curved, with offset cutting edges and a raised medial ridge. Chiselled arabesques with remnants of gilding on both sides of the root. The silver grip indented in the middle, deeply etched with fine floral ornaments. A turquoise cabochon on the pommel cap. Wood-lined silver scabbard with floral engraving, the owner's name engraved on one side. Two movable suspension rings on the side with old carrying cord in silver weave still attached. Length 33 cm.
