The beautifully shaped wootz-Damascus skull forged in one piece, the tip tapering into a circular finial with a central perforation. Finial and tip with fine floral gold damascening, an inscribed banderole running around the root. A multi-piece receptacle for the missing nasal riveted at the front. A reinforcement band riveted around the bottom edge, above which a wide banderole finely inlaid in gold. A continuous row of perforations with preserved gilt brass rivets to attach the aventail along the lower edge. One cheek piece with a teardrop-shaped decorative boss and a border of lining rivets, still attached to a hinge at the side.
