Description

Typical curved, single-edged blade forged in wootz-Damascus (?) with narrow fullers on both sides. Chased and gold-lined leafy vine decoration at the root. A gold-inlaid, heavily over-polished calligraphic cartouche on the obverse. The back of the blade with a finely chiselled medial ridge. Ferrule, back of the blade and grip frames embellished with delicate gold inlays, partially rubbed. The riveted grip scales in walrus ivory, the right-hand one broken. Leather-covered wooden scabbard with decorative stitching in brass wire. Silver locket decorated with fine filigree and corals. An old replacement on the lower edge. Engraved chape in white bronze. Length 77 cm.
