Description

Older, 18th-century blade in finely figured wootz-Damascus with fine gold-inlaid floral ornaments (partially rubbed) on both sides of the root. The grip and scabbard in sturdy sheet silver with exquisite, nielloed embellishment. The tughra mark of Abdülhamid II amidst blossoms and depictions of birds on both sides of the grip. The scabbard with continuous floral bands and geometric décor. A cartouche with trophy bundle and tughra on the front, a calligraphic cartouche at the centre. A depiction of a steamer with inscription and another tughra on the opposite side. A small suspension loop on one side. Length 41.5 cm.
