Description

Cal. .31(BlackPowder), SN. 51, matching numbers in all parts! Octagonal barrel, 4.5". Frosted bore with some pitting, lands and grooves well preserved. Six shots. SA. The barrel marked on top "ADDRESS.W.IRVING.20.CLIFF.ST.N.Y.". Iron frame and trigger guard. Retains ~ 60% original high-gloss blue finish on the barrel, cylinder and frame with brownish patina, some minor pitting on frame and trigger guard. Loading lever. Good grip panels with minor signs of wear, most likely rosewood. Excellent timing. Very rare! This revolver was manufactured by James Reid for W. Marston. William Irving was only the retailer. From 1863 to 1864 only about 1.500 iron frame revolvers were made.
