Description

Carin Göring on a bench in front of the Cross of Hochkreuth, near the mountain cottage in Bayrischzell, where Göring lived at that time, and the couple's secret romantic retreat during Carin's visits to Bavaria. Dimensions 23.5 x 17.5 cm, glue-repaired damage on reverse, edge knocks. Hermann Göring sits on a wood fence, a costumed Carin beside him, an alpine panorama in the background. Dimensions 23 x 17 cm, matted with notation in pencil "Vergr. (ößerung) Binder" (enlargement Binder), the matte with reverse adhesive marks from a previous frame. From the estate of Carin Göring. These photographs, respectively subtitled [tr.] "The Cross of Hochkreuth, the small mountain house of the Görings" (between pp. 56-57) and [tr.] "Hermann and Carin Göring in the Alps" (between pp. 62-63) appeared in the 1933 book "Carin Göring" published by her sister Fanny, Countess of Wilamowitz-Moellendorff. The photo of Carin at Hochkreuth was taken prior to the couple's matrimony in 1923. She had visited the cottage, which they called "stuga" (Swedish for "little house") in 1920 and 1921. The house was also the place from where Göring had composed his love letters to Carin. Of the utmost rarity.

Provenance: From the estate of Carin Göring.
