Description

Beige Karte (11 x 9 cm) mit eigenhändig geschriebenem Text "Mit Verzweifeln ist keine Politik zu machen." Rechts oben datiert "Berlin 18. 6. 24", Unterschrieben mit "Wirth." Dabei das am gleichen Tag gelaufene und an die Sammlerin adressierte Kuvert (geschlitzt). Joseph Wirth war im 1. Weltkrieg als Krankenpfleger an der Westfront. 1918 begrüßte er die Novemberrevolution und wurde badischer Finanzminister, später Reichsfinanzminister. Vom Mai 1921 bis zum November 1922 Reichskanzler der Weimarer Republik. Mitinitiator des "Vertrags von Rapallo". Er emigrierte im März 1933 in die neutrale Schweiz und blieb dort bis 1949.

Provenance: Die Sammlung Autographen von Gertrud Hoffmann und ihrer Tochter Else Karmann - "Eine Deutsche Autographen Sammlung, von 1850 bis 1967".
