Description

Kräftige, entlang des Randes stark eingezogene Matrix aus Messing mit tief geschnittenem Siegelfeld. Darin das verzierte und auf 1770 datierte Stadtwappen der Stadt Schotten, die Inschrift lautet: "STADT. UND. GERICHTS. SIEGEL. SCHOTTEN. AM. VOGELSBERG.". Die gegenüberliegende Seite der Matrix bezeichnet "I. CHS. K. S. / B. M.", auf dem kartuschförmig gearbeiteten Griff Widmung "SCHÜTZ. IÜDT. MEŸER / ZÜM. ANDE:" (das Stück wurde wohl vom hessischen Herzog an einen besonders privilegierten und "geschützten" Juden der Stadt geschenkt). Dazu ein weiteres, kleineres Exemplar des Schottschen Stadtsiegels. Die abgekürzte Inschrift lautet: "STADT. U: G: S: SCHOTTEN. AM. VOGELSBERG". Das Griffstück nur zur Hälfte erhalten. Matrix-Durchmesser jeweils 4,3 bzw. 2,8 cm.
