Description

An exceptionally rare early SA Service Dagger, commonly referred to as the “Weihnachtsdolch” (Christmas Dagger), Brown hardwood grip with 1st pattern nickel national eagle and enamel SA roundel. Double-edged blade with 1st type etched motto “Alles für Deutschland” and the early oval Carl Eickhorn trademark featuring the small, seated squirrel and “C.E.” initials. Blade shows uniform patina and age and spotting. Original brown anodized scabbard with nickel fittings and wear and age, complete with brown leather hanger and nickel hardware. On the 15th of December 1933, the SA Headquarters officially instituted a dagger to be worn with the SA uniform. On Christmas 1933 the first grouping of SA daggers were delivered to the higher SA leaders. These daggers are referred to as ‘Weihnachtsdolch’ (Christmas Dagger) and they have different design mottos and grip eagles to the later examples.
