Description

Cap body in dark blue wool, blue mohair cap band, silver-aluminum piping, silver-aluminum chin cords attached by two gilt finish pebbled buttons. Silver-finish metal eagle and wreath, cockade with red cloth insert. Black lacquered visor with brown, checkered finish underside. Dark blue artificial silk lining, moisture shield intact with damage, quality mark “Wert Siegel” underneath, brown leather sweatband. Size ca. 57. Purpose of aluminum chin cords and blue cap band is unknown. For reference Cf. “Headgear of Hitler’s Germany Vol. 2”, Halcomb Smith & Saris, page 262.
