Description
Field-grey Alpini hat with the gold-embroidered badge of the XXXth Pioneer Battalion "Guastatori" with the rank stripes of a Capitano on the left. The leather sweatband inscribed "Qualità Superiore", illegible manufacturer's stamp in the yellow silk lining. Heavily worn, moth holes. Greyish-green, collarless four-pocket service tunic in winter issue with blue fabric tabs and appliquéd metal badge. The left sleeve with the Xa MAS shield sewn on above the embroidered badge of the "Valanga" battalion. Rank insignia stitched on the cuffs of the sleeves. Green wooden buttons. Grey herringbone lining with depot issue stamps 1942, the monogram "R.A." embroidered at the nape. Greyish-green trousers with two coattail and hip pockets, partly lined in grey cloth, with buttons at the ankles. Greyish-green wool sweater. A pair of ankle boots in light brown leather with nailed soles and reinforced toes. A Sam Browne belt with a holster for a Beretta M 34, along with a pair of captured binoculars "Luminor Saint-Etienne - Grand Angle 10 x 40" in a brown leather case. The wearer's initials "R.A." could refer to Alberto Rota, who apparently served in the 9th/XXXth Btg Genio Guastatori "Valanga".Condition: II + Questions about the lot?
