Description

Large award document for the German West Wall Medal, awarded to Dr. Ing. Fritz Todt, General Inspector for the German Road Administration, on 23 November 1939, with the original signature of Adolf Hitler, the embossed seal in the lower left-hand corner. Awarded in the red presentation folder covered in leather, the gold-embossed national eagle on the cover. The inside pages covered in paper, made by Frieda Thiersch (marked). Dimensions of the folder 26 x 36.5 cm. Also includes a donation document "Freiheitsspende 1932", issued to Fritz Todt by Gauleitung München-Oberbayern, facsimile signatures. Moreover, a certificate of appreciation of Reichsminister Dr. Ing. Fritz Todt from Vizeadmiral Karl Dönitz, signed by Karl Dönitz. Extremely thick paper, the edges trimmed, issued circa 1940/1941. Showing traces of age and use. During World War II, Fritz Todt was General Inspector for the German Road Administration and, from 1940, Reich Minister for Armament and Ammunition. In 1938, he also founded the "Organization Todt", a military organized construction force. Fritz Todt was also in charge of constructing the Reichsautobahnen. He died in a plane crash near Rastenburg on February 8, 1942.
