Crafted in three pieces, the blackening of the iron centre is almost completely preserved. Silver frame with mark of fineness "800" on the reverse and maker’s mark "L/12", suspension ring is missing. Weight 31.49 g. The case is a very early post-war issue, UV negative. Traces of age and wear. The Knight’s Cross was awarded to Major der Reserve Siegfried Grabert. He served with Lehr-Regiment z.b.V. 800 "Brandenburg" and was killed in action near Bataisk on 25 July 1942. On 6 November 1943 he was awarded the Oak Leaves posthumously. His school friend and war comrade Eugen Fohrer, who also served in the Brandenburg regiment, received the order to hand over the Knight’s Cross and further possessions to Grabert’s mother. On receiving them, she gave the Knight’s Cross to Fohrer, who kept it safe until his death in 2005. We are also offering the Wehrpaß of Major Grabert in the second part of our autumn auction (O 107). The case of issue does not come from Major Grabert’s possession.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
