Description
Octagonal, deeply fluted barrels with the original, highly polished bluing. Six-groove rifled bores in 9 mm calibre. Dovetailed front sights and adjustable rear sights, the signature "Anton Ig. Krebs in Wien" finely inlaid in gold at the breeches. The breech plugs, snails and tangs deeply etched with decorative tendrils. The locks delicately engraved all over with a repeated, gold-framed signature. Single set triggers. The lavishly carved stocks made of ebony with fluted butts. Finely engraved iron furniture. Length of each 42.5 cm. In the associated case of beautifully figured mahogany, the brass plaque on the lid monogrammed "DT". Can be locked twice, the keys have been lost. Including a wide range of accessories, comprising powder flask, bullet mould, casting ladle, patch punch, screw driver, grease tin, powder measure, two cleaning rods, wad hook and cleaning pick. One tool has been lost. Dimensions of the case 8 x 46.5 x 30 cm. Anton Ignatz Krebs is documented as a gunsmith in Vienna between circa 1866 and 1869.Condition: I - II Questions about the lot?
