Description
Solingen export blade of high quality with fullered flattened diamond section. The base with rich decorative etching on both sides. The obverse with warrior figure in antique style, inscribed "Ahnnibal Chinagus"(?) with Latin motto "Tande Bona Causa Triumphus" amidst scrollwork. On the reverse a warrior figure in antique style inscribed "Caius Mutius Scaevola" with motto "In te Domini speravit, non confundar". Delicately crafted iron knuckle-bow hilt with thumb ring on the reverse. The guard bars with cut pinecone décor and finely grooved structure. The obverse guard plate crafted in the shape of fine tendrils wrapped around the guard bar, one of them terminating in a pinecone, the second finial missing. Original grip with fine iron wire wrap and large Turks’ heads. Biconical pommel decorated with grooved flower ornaments. Length 96 cm.
