Re-used older blade of a knightly sword from circa 1420. Lenticular cross-section, the upper half with three flat fullers on each side. The base of the blade decorated on both sides with fine brass inlays of letter "S" and cross formée within a double circle. On each side different unknown inscriptions consisting of nine letters and symbols. Extended quillons with round arms, large hilt arm on the obverse. Original grip with leather cover above fine cord wrap. Flaw below the pommel. Octagonal, finely ridged, mushroom-shaped pommel, the upper side decorated with cut foliage. Length of blade 95.5 cm, overall length 140 cm. Significant and extraordinarily well-preserved early blade.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
