Description
The skull of the morion forged in two pieces with a high, turned comb. A raised fleur-de-lys chased into each side of the skull. A simple plume holder riveted at the nape. Continuous lining rivets with brass rosettes along the lower edge (incomplete). Tapering brim, old, riveted repairs to one tip and on the left side. Remnants of the original leather lining on the inside. The gorget opening on a hinge chased with linear ornaments in relief. The neck guard sliding on two lames with a prominent turned and roped flange. The Nuremberg proof mark "N" struck on the breastplate, along with another illegible mark. The pauldrons sliding on five lames with a finely turned and roped edge. Matching breastplate and backplate, chased with linear ornaments in relief. The prominent flanges of the breastplate struck inwards, the backplate with turned edges. The attached tassets sliding on five lames with brass-plated lining rivets. Assembled from old components. The leather lining partially replaced, the straps of the tassets defective. Height approx. 95 cm.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
