Cal. 8x57 IS, SN. 5075 r, matching numbers. Bright bore. Five shots. German proof marks dated 1976. Top of receiver marked "Mod. 98 / bnz 45". Made by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG, Steyr, 1945. Various acceptance marks Eagle/623. No cleaning rod. Original finish >96%, some resinified oil. Cartridge box of stamped sheet metal made by Mauser and marked "byf", with a thin grey parkerized finish, no serial number. Walnut stock with no exterior number, but marked Eagle/Swastika/H. Traces of wear. Front sight guards. After the war this rifle was given by the Allied occupation forces to the Viennese Police, where it was registered on March 01, 1952, in the gun inventory. Here it received additional sling swivels to reflect the Viennese "modified carry" style. Sold off to German gun dealers in the 1970ies.
