Description

Cal. .44 S&W Russ., SN. 9220, Rifled bore, matte, with shallow grooves, good condition. Six shots. Reblued finish, with some scattered, very fine pitting. 7” ribbed barrel with 2-line address and pinned steel half moon front sight. An anchor and two wavy lines (Japanese Navy mark) stamped on bottom of frame in front of trigger guard. Chequered walnut grips. Lanyard ring in the butt. Length 32 cm. Smith & Wesson supplied approx. 1.000 of this model to the Japanese government, with our sample being part of the second shipment to H. Aherns & Co. in Yokohama in 1880. The S&W's saw more than 50 years of service and not many have survived - this is a truly rare revolver, a must have for any collector of Japanese firearms!

The pre-sale viewing will take place from Oct. 18 - 21 and Oct. 28 - 31, 2020 from 2 to 6 pm (CET).
