Description

Octagonal barrel with multiply staggered ridges and twelve-groove rifled bore in 11.5 mm calibre. The upper side of the barrel richly decorated with raised arabesques inlaid in gold. At the breech gold-inlaid signature "Geeringkx à Paris". The base of the barrel with number "1". Mark "LB" with crown struck at the bottom of the barrel. Lock with raised gold inlays. Elaborately carved ebony half stock with iron furniture richly inlaid in gold. Barrel lightly pitted in places, cracks in the forestock, the butt with restored break. Length 43.5 cm.
F. P. Geeringkx, recorded as gunsmith in Paris, displayed a pair of elaborately crafted pistols in the 1889 Industrial Exhibition. Purveyor to the foreign ministry.

The auction includes 726 lots and starts on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020 at 10 am (CET). Lot no. 5001 - 5727. The pre-sale viewing will take place from Oct. 18 - 21 and Oct. 28 - 31, 2020 from 2 to 6 pm (CET). However, the number of participants for both auction and viewing is limited due to Covid-19 restrictions and requires an appointment. Bring your favourite breathing mask!
