Description
Two-stage barrel, octagonal then round and smooth after a cut girdle, in 15 mm calibre with cannon muzzle and silver front sight. On the upper side of the barrel a cut trophy bundle with remnants of gilding, on the bottom signed "WITTEMANN A GIESSEN". Lightly engraved iron lock housing with S-shaped cock and (later) frizzen. Fire-gilt bronze furniture with trophy bundle and butt finely engraved with figures, on the pommel cap three-dimensional mascaron, the escutcheon with ligated "L" underneath a crown. Replaced wooden ramrod with brass tip. Length 41 cm.Wittemann, Gießen, mentioned 1723.
