Cal. 18mm / 9 mm BlackPowder, comprising a heavy rifled(?) barrel in calibre 9 mm and a shotgun barrel in calibre 17.8 mm, each with rough bore, on the top heavy dovetail front and rear sight, inscribed at the breech "Lewis, Troy, N.Y." and "13". Back-action percussion locks, the lockplate with engraving of a plain hunting scene and illegibly inscribed "G. Gout...(?)". Slender butt with brass furniture and patchbox. Wooden ramrods with brass tips. Iron parts patinated, the lower ramrod pipes damaged, in the section of the nipples slightly pitted, the butts slightly bumped and small tension crack in the area of the patchbox. Length 126 cm.Nelson Lewis (1811 - 1888) was active in Troy, New York State, since 1843. Cf. Heer, Der Neue Stöckel, vol. 1, p. 708.
