Description
His diary, commencing at May 1, 1949, during his stay in the british military prison in Werl, containing remarks to the military trials (his defence?) and military records. A card-board box stamped "Historical Division HQ USAREUR" with copies from the 1950ies of testimonies from the Nuremberg Trials, copies of German war-time documents regarding armament projects, chain of command, statistics on successes and losses, meetings with Hitler, the fight against partisans and more. Includes letters to prominent characters, such as generals, state secretaries, the chancellor and others. A 9-page type-written letter received from Manfred Rommel, dated June 26, 1953, with Rommel criticising the way in which Kesselring portrays his father, GFM Rommel, in his book "A Soldier to the very last day". Kesselring‘s draft of a nine-page response to Rommel‘s letter, dated July 3, 1953.
