Din A 5, chequered. More than 170 pages with ink or pencil notes dating from the period between 18 Sept. 1928 and 31 Dec. 1931, with numerous entries documenting official events and classifications, service orders, appointments, watchwords of the day, sentries, list of absentees, admission to the SS with membership numbers, events (predominantly with the names of the speakers and venues) etc. Inserted monthly reports with abstracts, partially glued to separate forms. The pages stamped "Schutzstaffel München der NSDAP - Führer", "Nationalsoz. Deutsche Arbeit.-Partei - Schutzstaffel Sta I", "Schutzstaffel der NSDAP München - Sturm 1" or "1. SS-Sturm I/1. SS-Standarte", signed by the chief operating officer and the Sturmführer, among them numeral signatures of Sepp Dietrich, Georg Aumeier (Himmler's adjutant 1930/31), Karl Ostberg (who died in 1935, one of the Stürme/companies was subsequently named "Karl Ostberg" in his honour), Ernst Zaske (1938 in the staff of the RFSS) or Arthur Rödl. Among the events: order from 15 Jan. 1929: (tr.) "Encountering of SS men wearing uniform when off duty fine of M 1,-"; order from 29 Jan. 1929: (tr.) "Members of the SS are not allowed to have contact with commanding officers either on or off duty [...] it is every SS man's unconditional duty to attend the party congress" (1 - 4 Aug. 1929); order from 16 April 1929: (tr.) "Munich section receives a fourth platoon [...] Gruppenführer Höflich Heinrich is appointed platoon commander of the recently founded IIIrd platoon [...] The time has come for more money to enter the travel funds, we only have 3 1/2 months left until the party congress"; order from 4 June 1929: (tr.) "The uniform consists of: shirt, trousers, cap, and leather gear [...] Every member of the SS must get black leather gaiters or jackboots prior to July 1st [...] nobody with socks or puttees will go to the Nuremberg party congress."; order from 18 June 1929: (tr.) "Propaganda marches, newspaper service, and any type of advertising campaign must be attended by the entire Sturm. It is not tolerable that one half of a group of 75 men is missing"; order from (tr.) "9./III. 1930 SS man Müller is punished with an 8-day sleeve band withdrawal for being drunk on duty on 9.III." Among the meetings in 1929: (tr.) "8./11. Epp meeting Bürgerbräukeller, 15./11. Streicher meeting Hackerkeller, 25./11. Esser meeting Bürgerbräukeller, Hitler meeting 19/11 Löwenbr. K.", 1930 "24./II Hitler meeting Bürgerbräu, 25.7.1930 Frick-Straßer meeting Circus", and many more. In leather gift binding with gold border, the flyleaf with the calligraphic dedication: (tr.) "Dedicated to the SS Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler from the leaders of the SS Sturmbann 2. Christmas 1932", signed by "Rödl SS Sturmbannführer" (mentioned in the seniority list 1938 in the "K.L. Buchenwald", 1944 as commander of the 13th Regiment of the 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division PE). Unique and historically significant document from the early years of the SS. The present roll call book is more than just a chronological report of daily routines, many of the orders written in it also reveal a lot about uniform codes, the high fluctuation of personnel and the (lack of) discipline in the SS.
