Description

No maker's mark, polished steel blade with etched motto. Reverse of blade etched “Von den Kameraden der SS San-Staffel I/25. Zum 9. Juli 1938” (From the comrades of the SS Medical Staff, squadron I/25th Standard). Nickel-plated grip fittings, black wooden grip with insert aluminum eagle and enamelled SS emblem. Burnished black steel scabbard, exhibits age, with nickel-plated fittings. Nickel-plated steel chain hanger with stamped SS proof on the reverse. Includes portepee. Length circa 34.5 cm. Cf. Exploring the Dress Daggers and Swords of the German SS, Thomas T Wittmann, p. 252. Rare presented and published example.
