Blued, octagonal barrel with twelve-groove rifled bore in 12 mm calibre. The signature "Inv.on Gastine-Renette à Paris" engraved on the top. The serial number "83", number "3496", "Gastine-Renette" and year of production "1885" stamped below the breech. The breech plug and tang blued, engraved with delicate floral ornaments. Height-adjustable rear sight. Colour case hardened lock engraved with fine decorative tendrils. Half stock in walnut with engraved, colour case hardened and blued iron furniture. Length 42 cm. In the associated wooden case. A vacant monogram plaque in brass inset into the lid. Lockable, the key is included. The interior lined in blue velvet, a gold-embossed manufacturer's mark in the lid. Including a wide range of accessories, comprising a grease tin, nipple wrench, bullet mould, measuring spoon, screw driver, powder flask, patch box, a box for percussion caps and a cleaning rod with screw-on wad hook and screw driver (the attachments probably unassociated). Dimensions of the case 7.5 x 46.5 x 21.5 cm. Leather transport case with carrying strap, likewise associated. Gastine Renette is documented as a gunsmith in Paris from 1839. He won a silver medal at the Industrial Expositions of both 1839 and 1844, and served as court gunsmith to the kings of Spain and Emperor Napoleon III of France.Condition: I - Questions about the lot?
