A cased pair of percussion pistols, Jean-Baptiste Rongé Fils of Liège, circa 1850

Description
Octagonal Damascus barrels with twelve-groove rifled bores in 12 mm calibre. Both pistols with a Liège proof mark stamped on the left. The patent breechblocks and tangs deeply etched with floral ornamentation and the numbers "1" and "2" inlaid in gold. The locks likewise deeply etched, with the gold-inlaid signature "J B Rongé Fils a Liege" at the cock. The half stocks in lacquered walnut with grooved butts and finely carved decorative tendrils, the signature "PJN" carved below the noses. Delicately engraved iron furniture, the barrel wedges lined in nickel-silver, the trigger guard and butt plates blued. The silver thumb plates engraved "Lde St A". Length of each 42.5 cm. In the associated wooden case, the edges trimmed with brass. An over-polished monogram plaque in brass inset into the lid. Lockable, the key is included. The interior lined in red velvet. Including a wide range of accessories, comprising two cleaning rods (one of which unassociated), threaded bullet puller and cleaning brush, pouring device, box for percussion caps, powder flask, powder measure, bullet mould, screw driver (unassociated), bullet starter, loading hammer and pin.
