A type of gas-seal revolver produced by Steyr in a small batch in 1897 for a field trial. Although only the "II. model" with a fixed cylinder was requested, Steyr produced approximately 100 revolvers with a swing-out cylinder employing H. Pieper's system. When the hammer is cocked, the cylinder moves forward about 2 mm and is pushed towards the end of the barrel. The highest serial number known to date is "59". Ultimately, this model was not introduced. Cf. Stefan Schuy, Österreichische Revolver 1840 - 1918, p. 401 - 402.
