Zweischneidige Gladius-Klinge (fleckig), beidseitig dreifach gekehlt, an der Wurzel die Herstellerätzung "N. P Ames Springfield" und auf der Gegenseite der Stempel "United States 1839 WS". Schweres Messing-Kreuzgefäß mit geschupptem Griff. In schwarzer Lederscheide (berieben) mit glatten Messingbeschlägen und Trageknopf. Partiell leicht beschädigt, Gebrauchs- und Altersspuren. Länge 67 cm.
