Sturdy, curved single-edged blade with fullers on both sides, T-shaped profile of forged Damascus steel (somewhat stained), both sides with etched cartouches and lettering in Ottoman style (traces of gilding), yelmen and double-edged point. Iron openwork basket hilt with slit for the attachment of a lanyard, grip covered with rayskin and silver wire wrap (incomplete). Matching broad iron scabbard (stained) with two movable suspension rings. Slightly damaged in places, traces of age. Length 98 cm. Probably crafted by a European manufacturer in the style of a kilic blade in the 19th century. Highly interesting officer’s weapon of exquisite quality.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
