Description
Octagonal, originally blued barrels, twelve-groove rifled bores in 11.5 mm calibre. Signed "Fni. par Gastine-Renette à Paris" at the breeches, behind it engraved numbers "1" and "2", respectively. Colour case hardened lock with finely engraved tendrils. Half stocks of walnut wood with delicately chiselled scrollwork, the butts with fine chequering. Original blued butt caps and trigger guards with engraved tendril décor. Length of each 41.5 cm.In the original oakwood case lined with green felt, a vacant brass plaque on the lid. Lockable, key is missing. Extensive accessories comprising bullet mould, powder measure, nipple wrench, screwdriver, loading hammer, patch can, cleaning rod and ramrod. The lid of the case minimally warped due to age. Dimensions 8 x 48 x 26 cm. Gastine Renette, recorded in Paris as gunsmith as of 1839. Silver medal winner at the Industrial Expositions 1839 and 1844, gunsmith to the courts of the Spanish kings and the French emperor Naoleon III.Condition: I - Questions about the lot?
