Description
Blued octagonal barrels, ridged then fluted after the middle. Twelve-groove rifled bores in 11 mm calibre. At the breeches cut signature "Brun Brevetté à Paris". Breechblocks and tangs with deeply engraved flower décor, numbers "1" and "2", respectively inlaid in gold. Locks with deeply engraved flower décor. Half stocks of ebony (?) with fullered butts and finely cut tendril decoration. The barrel beddings with carver’s monogram "E". Iron furnitures deeply engraved with flower ornaments. Length of each 42 cm.In the original wooden case covered with black, gold-embossed leather. On the lid foldable handle of brass. Not lockable, at the front two closing flaps of brass. The interior lined with wine-red felt. Accessories comprising powder flask, bullet mould, screwdriver, powder scale, patch can of turned bone, loading hammer, ramrod, cleaning rod with screw-mountable jag and bullet puller. Dimensions 11 x 51 x 29 cm. Jules Auguste Cesar Brun, recorded in Paris as gunsmith around 1850. He took part several times in the Exposition de Paris between 1840 and 1868 and won a medal at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London.Condition: II + Questions about the lot?
