Description
One-piece iron skull with incorporated peak and neck guard. Surrounded by finely fluted lining rivets, the edges finely turned and roped, the cheek-pieces missing. Richly decorated with embossed designs, the ground with traces of gold-plating. Depicted on both sides of the skull: Hercules holding a torch and fighting the Lernean Hydra, respectively, on the obverse Hercules fighting the Nemean Lion. The tall comb, peak, and neck guard with raised portrait cartouches set between trophies. Height 30 cm.
