Description

Bronze, partially with green patina, depicting a wide-stanced male nude with an eagle head facing to the right. On the back of the base the artist's signature "Arno Breker", "111/300" and "venturi arte". The back somewhat rubbed. Height ca. 69 cm.
The Olympia Cycle consisted of a number of sculptures, which were modelled after Olympic athletes of 1978/1980 who posed for Breker. "Young Europe" probably was the swimmer Walther Kusch. In his book "Ein Leben für das Schöne" Breker mentioned that unified Europe doesn’t have a face yet.Condition: II + Questions about the lot?
