Viktor Lutze – a gold cigarette case, a Christmas and birthday present from Adolf Hitler to the Stabschef SA, 1935

Description

Gold, the exterior with very fine chequering, the edges polished. Black onyx cabochon. Polished interior with dedication (tr.) "With cordial wishes, Adolf Hitler – Christmas 1935". Hallmark "585", two yellow rubber bands. Dimensions 10.5 x 8.3 cm, weight 155.96 g. The leather cover and case of "A. Lünser Hof-Uhrmacher u. Juwelier Berlin NW 7", which were still existent in 1993, are now missing.
Viktor Lutze (28.12.1890 - 2.5.1943) succeeded Ernst Röhm after the latter's murder on 1 July 1934 and became the Stabschef of the SA, which started to lose significance after the separation of the SS. He died due to a car accident in 1943.
