Description
Silver with highly polished surfaces. A party eagle with initials "AH" applied on the center of the lid surrounded by meandering scrolls. Three-levelled stands. The jeweller's mark "FHW" and the hallmark "925" on the bottom next to the crescent moon and crown. Lined inside with finely grained cedrela wood. 5.5 x 17.5 x 10.5 cm. Weight 599 g. Hitler himself did not smoke, but it was custom to offer tobacco to his high-ranking guests at the large receptions held in the Neue Reichskanzlei. The present cigarette box is among the rarest tobacco utensils of his personal silverware which also consists of cigar boxes of various sizes, matchbox holders or the cigar cutter.Provenance: Sammlung Keith Wilson, Kansas City.
