Description
The massive vases worked in stone and covered in vibrant malachite, with gilt bronze appliqués, some brass appliqués/inlays. On four ormolu feet in the shape of mythical creatures (paws with winged lion's heads), rectangular pedestal with plaques of floral décor appliquéd on all sides. Above which, the footed vases with gold foliage decoration at the bottom of the body. A massive laurel garland appliquéd on the base and body of the vase. Two large, fully sculptured ram's heads in gilt bronze on each side. Heavy, press-in lid with a raised leaf ornament. Small interior with brass inlay. Dimensions 69 x 50 x 37 cm, height without pedestal 51 cm. A magnificent pair of vases in the style of Louis XVI.
